St. Theresa Catholic Church – December Celebration Recap
This past December, our St. Theresa parish family united in faith, tradition, and devotion to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of the Americas. The celebration was filled with prayer, culture, and love for Our Blessed Mother.
One of the most powerful moments of our celebration was the 3-mile peregrinación (pilgrimage) from Plaza Frida back to our church. Dozens of parishioners walked together, singing and praying the Rosary in honor of Our Lady. The sight of the faithful processing through the streets—accompanied by horses and our Matachines de Santa Teresa—was a moving witness of our Catholic faith and Hispanic heritage.
Upon arriving at the church, we gathered for Las Mañanitas, offering songs and flowers to Our Lady just as St. Juan Diego did. The church was filled with music, candles, and the scent of roses, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere.
We then celebrated a beautiful Mass in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe, giving thanks for her protection and guidance in our lives. The liturgy reflected the joy and gratitude of a community rooted in Marian devotion.
After Mass, the Matachines de Santa Teresa performed a traditional dance of reverence and praise, honoring Our Lady with every step. Their movements, music, and colorful attire reminded us of the rich traditions that continue to inspire our faith.
The celebration continued with a joyful gathering in the Parish Center, where families shared food, music, and fellowship. With delicious tamales, pan dulce, and hot chocolate, hearts and spirits were warmed.
We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this celebration so special. Moments like these remind us of the strength of our community and the powerful intercession of our Blessed Mother.
¡Virgencita de Guadalupe, ruega por nosotros!
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
